- The Talk
i attended one of keppel corp's seminars on tue at raffles city, titled "grow beyong series: no limits"
initially, i kinda took it as an opportunity to slack off from work for half the day. there were 2 speakers that day:
1. nick vujicic - motivational speaker
2. elim chew - founder of 77th street
my first thought when the term "motivational speaker" popped up was someone who is very happy and motivated with life, and who wants to go all out to motivate and bring purpose to the life of others.
but here's the catch - the reason why he is so happy (and rich) in the first place is because he is so good in bullshitting the people around him into giving him $ to make them feel good about themselves; sort of like a phoney...
well...at least thats my first impression anyway...
when nick's assistant first carried him up on stage, i actually mistook him for a puppet. and i thought that it would be like a ventriloquist puppet show or something.
then its like...HE'S REAL~!!! wow...
its only after the surprise starts to subside that the feeling of sympathy and admiration starts to set in.
overall, his talk was great.
he's a staunch christian, but he doesn't attempt to force his christianity belief down your throat.
he has a great sense of humour.
he's talk is simple, yet so real. and it reflects the genuine confidence that he has in himself.
