- The Reservist Week
when you were a kid and your english teacher wants you to write a composition about what you wanna be when you grow up, most boys will be like "policeman~!, soldier~!, fireman~!". somehow, when you're 6 or 7, the occupations that you know of will typically revolve around these 3 jobs; plus doctors, pilots and sailors.
when you get older, say...secondary school or poly?
the sad truth that you're going to spend your 21st birthday serving NS starts to dawn on you...
during NS, you start to have thoughts like "what the fuck am i doing here?" or "i'm wasting 2 years of my life...". you look at the kids playing in neighbourhoods and shopping centres with their toy guns, and tell them in your mind that when they finally grow up and be your age, they will never wanna carry a gun or rifle ever again.
its at this point in time, when policeman, soldier and fireman are the last 3 jobs that you want to do.
however, when you start work, things really start looking up for you.
reservist and soldier doesn't seem so bad anymore. in fact, it sounds more like a week on leave or a free rest week.
it's that time when you realise your relationship with mindef has come full circle, and you're back to enjoying being a soldier again. but only if its just for a week...

- The Rules
#1. treat others the way you want to be treated
#2. never put yourself in a position where you can take from them
#3. never expect them to do something that given a choice, you yourself will never do
short term goal: to stone my way through the week...

- The Finishing
i'm finally done with all my projects and assignments~!
and i don't have to go kluang over the weekend as well. which is kinda like a good thing too i guess, since its been awhile that i can wake up without having to hear the sound of my alarm clock.
and thanks to the initial kluang plan, qi has agreed to hand up all my assignments for me. so even though i'm not going to kluang anymore, i don't have to drop by lavender during the weekend to hand up all my stuffs as well.
thanks sis~!
even though you always skip classes, occasionally offend people with your bluntness, and find me naggy whenever i tell you to spend more time at home, i still like you as who you genuinely are, and that you always keep things real. =)
kastine called me just now and asked me why i didn't tell her about my promotion. which kinda caught me by surprise since i thought the news will spread by itself pretty quickly.
ended up sitting down at my void deck to chat with her about work and how carrefour is doing. basically just bitching~.
then i told her i'll arrange a dinner with jack and her next month before she leaves.
now i kinda understand why boss never ever tells anyone openly about his promotions (which happens like every single year).
somehow, it just doesn't seem such a big deal to me. work carries on, life moves on, and you just carry on with your job.
